LHS boys also beat Eagles

Liberty High School's boys swim team defeated Nazareth, 108-73, and Pocono Mountain East, 93-75.

In the Hurricanes meet against Nazareth, Alexis Calderon, Anthony Delcorso, Reid Rossi, and Jacob Jones won the first boys event, the 200 medley relay, with a time of 1:45.58.

Regarding swimming as the anchor, Jones said, "I've gotten used to the pressure, and I enjoy the competition as well. My goal is to catch up to the other lanes, for example, if we were a pool length behind, catching up to that other person."

Jones, Brandon Hlavaty, Nolan Vanatta, and Evan Smith later combined to win the 200 free relay in 1:32.58, and Nazareth's Grant Durner, Jarrod Hendricks, Derek Roesch, and Austin Hooper won the 400 free relay in 3:35.21.

In individual events, Smith, Jones, and Hlavaty had a 1-2-3 finish in the 50 free, respectively.

Smith said, "Right off the block, it was everybody tired from practice but just going as fast as we could. I turned and looked over, but nobody [from Nazareth] was really there. We have a lot of good people in sprint frees."

Smith also won the 100 free in 50.96, Rossi won the 100 backstroke in 1:00.27, and Delcorso took first place in the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.14.

In the Hurricanes meet against Pocono Mountain East, Smith placed first in the 200 IM in 2:13.56, John Buttillo won the 100 free in 54.92, Calderon won the 100 backstroke in 1:00.37. and Delcorso took first place in the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.16.

In the closest relay of the day, Jones, Jase Smith, Hlavaty, and Evan Smith pulled off a victory in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:36.05 over Pocono Mountain East's George Fair, Travis Dalton, Tyler Dalton, and Martin Bohdan, who had a time of 1:36.38.
