Whitehall Township Public Library column
We want to say how much our library family will miss our board president, George Schermerhorn, who died Dec. 8.
George has been on the library board for many years and was a great supporter of the library. His sense of humor and love of books will be remembered by all who knew him. He also loved to make puns to make us laugh.
Thank you, George, for all you have done for the library. We will miss you and think of you often.

We are starting a new year of programs and activities at the library.
The library board, staff and Friends of the Library are planning many fun programs for the library's 50th anniversary in 2015.

With the dark and cold weather, folks can use the library without going outside.
On the right hand side of our main library website, we have dozens of databases and resources for patrons to use for free. All you need is your current library card.
One of the best sources of information is the power library, a place to access magazines, books, genealogical records, newspapers, images and other resources.

The Adult Winter Reading Program will run from Jan. 12 to March 7.
The program is for patrons 18 years and older. The theme this year is "Cozy Up With a Good Read!"
Patrons can register online or at the front desk starting Jan. 9. Each patron registering will receive an information sheet, bookmark and pen.
Participants will be asked to read at least two books and to challenge themselves to read from a challenge list.
The wrap-up party will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 10. For more information, call the library.
