Soccer Scholars Athletes
The Lehigh Valley Soccer Scholar Athlete Banquet will be held on Jan. 11, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. at the Northampton Memorial Community Center, 1601 Laubach Ave. in Northampton. There will be 76 soccer scholar athletes honored.
The guest speaker for the evening will be Ms. Amy Hough, assistant women's coach at Lehigh.
Also that evening, John Larry Endy, soccer referee, John Lojko, a key in starting the Emmaus Youth Soccer Program and Siegfried T. Mayr, a founding member of St. Thomas More Parish Soccer Program.
Brian C. Heckman – Whitehall
Heckman is a center midfielder that scored seven goals and added eight assists in 2014. His career totals are 23 goals and 16 assists. He ranks first in a class of 347 students with a 4.67 GPA out of 4.0. He was named to the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference second-team this season, and plays club soccer for Lehigh Valley United '96 in the offseason. In addition to being the President of the National Honor Society and Math National Honor Society, he is a member of Spanish National Honor Society, Math League, Zephyr Nation and Kids of Character Leadership Conference. Heckman plans to attend the University of Pennsylvania or Lehigh University and major in Mechanical Engineering. He also plans to play soccer at the collegiate level.
Kourtney R. Cunningham – Whitehall
Cunningham, who tallied 41 goals and 19 assists in 2014, was a member of the Zephyrs team that won districts this season. She has scored 122 goals in three seasons and was named an all-state and first-team EPC selection this season. She has a 3.7 GPA out of 4.0. In addition to soccer, Cunningham participates in field hockey (64 career goals) and track and field for Whitehall. She is a member of Zephyr Nation and National Honor Society, while participating in the Miracle League and Special Olympics for community service.
