Margaret Rose (Koomar) Reese, OLPH Church founding member

Margaret Rose (Koomar) Reese, 94, of Bethlehem, died Dec. 30, 2014, at home of age-related illness. Born in Nesquehoning, she was a daughter of the late Michael P. and Anna M. (York) Koomar. She was the wife of Albert Reese; they would have celebrated 70 years of marriage on Jan. 6.

She helped her daughter Mary and son-in-law Paul Hoffert open Jumbar's restaurant, Bethlehem.

She was a founding member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, Bethlehem.

She was a chef for the late Rev. Harry Hynes.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Mary (Reese) Hoffert of Bethlehem; two sisters, Mary K. Rose of Princeton, N.J. and Helen T. Koomar of Nesquehoning; and five brothers Edward M. of Allentown; Michael P. of Cleveland, Ohio; Vincent J. of Nesquehoning; Joseph B. of Peotone, Ill.; and James B. of Audubon.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Anne, at home; and Jeanne of Bethlehem; a son, Jim and his wife Anne Bean of Bethlehem; a daughter, Joan and her husband Jim Finnen of Hellertown; a son-in-law, Paul Hoffert of Bethlehem; three brothers, John Koomar, Francis X. Koomar and Stephen T. Koomar, all of Nesquehoning; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; five step-grandchildren ;and many nieces and nephews.
