EMMAUS BOROUGH

The Borough of Emmaus Council will hold a special meeting 6 p.m. Jan. 15, 2015 to discuss and vote on the possible purchase of the building located at 33 E. Minor St., the former home of Rodale, Inc, as well as the parking lot located at 10 E. Minor St. and the building located at 151 E. Minor St.

The proposed purchase price for this acquisition is $2.95 million. The purpose of the purchase would be to ultimately relocate and consolidate all borough government operations to this location, including general administration, town hall, police, ambulance and fire operations.

The current buildings would then be sold.

The building located at 33 E. Minor St. is a 58,376 square foot building designed for offices. The building currently has a tenant in part of the building; it is expected the tenant would remain.

The property includes 104 parking spaces and over five acres of property. The parking lot across the street adds an additional 35 to 40 parking spaces. The adjacent building at 151 E. Minor St. is a 1,260 square foot stone house previously converted to office space.

This is a public meeting and all interested members of the public are invited to attend. The meeting will occur at Emmaus Borough Hall, 28 S. 4th Street, Emmaus.

The meeting will include a presentation encompassing the results of a feasibility study conducted by Spillman Farmer Architects as well as results of appraisals conducted by Raymond Geiger. The presentation will also include the cost, proposed terms of sale and a fiscal plan to pay for the purchase and retrofitting of the building.

At the conclusion of the presentation, members of the public are encouraged to ask questions and engage in a conversation regarding this possible acquisition. At the conclusion of the conversation, the Emmaus Borough Council will vote on the matter.
