Albert "Al" Crilley, 91, from Allentown, died on Dec. 19, 2014, in his home surrounded by his loving family.
He and his wife Carolyn Betting celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary in June.
Born January 1923 in Mauch Chunk, he was a son of the late Edward and Harriet (Newton) Crilley.
A 1940 graduate of Mauch Chunk High School, he proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy as a signalman on the destroyer USS Sigourney in the Pacific Theater.
The owner and operator of Crilley's Auto Service for many years, he was a faithful member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, Allentown.
He enjoyed gardening, flowers, and birds.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Carolyn Barthomew of Allentown, Diane Shearer and her husband, James, of Belgrade, Mont.; sons Albert L. "Bud" of York; David and his wife, Cathy, of Schnecksville; grandchildren Susan M. Stern, Brock Bar-tholomew, Benjamin and Paul Shearer and his wife, Swithin, Evan, Ryan, Sandra, Janelle, Maria and Jennifer Crilley; great-grandchildren Alexander Cabellero, Savannah and Austin Stern; sister Elinor Klotz and her husband, Richard, of Lehighton and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers Hayden, Joseph, James, Frank and Bob; sisters Doris Miller and Pauline Ritzhauer and grandson, Adam N. Crilley.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
