NCC tennis has great season

The Northampton Community College womens tennis team finished 7-3 for the 2014 season under head coach Megan Groh and assistant coach Ashley Bennett. This is only the team's second year in the NJCAA.

The team consisted of Valeria Ceron at number-one singles and number-one doubles, Shelby Toth at number-two singles and number-two doubles, Megan Parsons at number-three singles and number-two doubles, Sarina Tufano at number-four singles and number-one doubles, Jasmeet Kaur at number-five singles and number-three doubles, and Krista Maue at number-six singles and number-three doubles. Northampton finished as the runners up in the Region XIX tournament held at Rowan College at Gloucester County on October 11-13.

Northampton had a total of 9 points earning them a spot at the National tournament at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, NY. Tufano was the only singles runner-up at Regionals. Toth, Parsons, Kaur and Maue all earned runner up on their respective doubles teams.

The team competed at the 2014 NJCAA Division III Women's Tennis National Tournament on October 22-24. Valeria Ceron had the only victory for the team and the first-ever National victory for Northampton Community College. The 2014 Northampton women's tennis team made school history by competing in the national tournament and earning runner up at the Regional tournament.
