Bethlehem set to become Wrestling City, USA

Bethlehem may be ranked as one of the best places to visit during Christmas time, but it's also a coveted destination for holiday wrestling, as Bethlehem Catholic and Liberty host their annual tournaments next weekend to give fans plenty of options over three days, starting Saturday with the 47th annual Tony Iasiello Christmas City Tournament.

Wrestling begins on Saturday at 10 a.m. and runs through the third round of consolations. Action restarts again on Sunday at 10 a.m. with semifinals and consolation rounds. Wrestling will run straight through to the finals, where there will be a 30-minute break in between to set up for the championship round.

Teams in the tournament this year include: Arch Bishop Wood, Anneville Cleona, Bethlehem Catholic, Blair Academy (Second Varsity Team), East Stroudsburg North, East Stroudsburg South, Elmer L. Meyers, First Colonial (Va), The Hill School, Louis E. Dieruff, Muhlenberg, Notre Dame, Pius X, Pocono Mountain West, Port Jervis (NY), Saint Benedicts Prep (NJ) Schuylkill Valley, Susquehanna Township, Upper Perkiomen and Wallenpaupack.

As Sunday's action concludes at Becahi, it starts up at Liberty for the Bethlehem Holiday Wrestling Classic.

Sunday's two scheduled sessions are slated for 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Monday's wrestling begins at 10:30 a.m. with semifinals. Consolation finals will start at 3:30 p.m. and finals will start at roughly 5 p.m. Teams in this year's tournament are: Big Spring, Central Dauphin, Council Rock South, Delaware Valley, Freedom, Hazleton, Lehighton, Liberty, Milton, Nazareth, North Penn, Northampton, Northern Lehigh, Northwestern Lehigh, Palmerton, Pen Argyl, Pennridge, Phillipsburg (NJ), Pleasant Valley, Quakertown, Pottsville, St. Mark's (Del), Saucon Valley, Stroudsburg, Tri-Valley, Warwick, Wyoming Seminary and Wyoming Valley West.
