Mildred L. Steigerwalt, 91, of Orefield, died Dec. 3, 2014, in Fellowship Manor, Whitehall.

She and her husband Norwood B. Steigerwalt were married 71 years.

Born Feb. 27, 1923, in Palmerton, she was the daughter of the late James and Martha (Walck) Oswald.

She was employed at the former Western Electric, Allentown, for several years before retiring.

A 1940 graduate of Palmerton High School, she actively participated in the music program and was a member of the National Honor Society.

She was a past president of the Parkland Garden Club, a member of the Telephone Pioneers, Rose Croix Chapter 235 and a past matron of the former Slatington Chapter 458, Order of the Eastern Star.

She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Northampton.

In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by sons, Robert P. and his wife, Jan, of Orefield, Ted D. and his wife, Ann, of Slatington; sister Evelyn Bleiler of Fort Myers, Fla.; grandchildren Brad, Kristie, Jason and Ryan; and great-grandchildren Drew and Chloe.
