Mabel V. Geiger

Mabel V. Geiger, 94, of Germansville, died on Dec. 12, 2014, in Phoebe Home, Allentown.

She was the wife of the late Reuben S. Geiger.

Born Oct. 8, 1920, in Best Station, Washington Township, she was the daughter of the late Fred A. and Ellen J. (Handwerk) German.

She was a bookkeeper at the former Slatedale Knitting Mill for eight years before retiring in 1948.

She also assisted her late husband in the operation of their family farm in Heidelberg Township.

Active in the life of her church and community, she was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Heidelberg Union Church, Heidelberg Township, where she sang with the choir for 45 years.

She was a board of director emeritus of the Lehigh County Agricultural Society, Allentown, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Rose Croix Chapter 235, formerly Slatington Chapter 458, a life member of Central Grange 1650, and Goodwill Fire Co. No. 1, both in Germansville, and the Northwestern Ambulance Corps.

In 1999, she was recognized by Lehigh County for 50 years of consecutive voting.

Her survivors include several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by siblings Arlene R. Peters, and Calvin H., Randall F. and Marvin A. German.
