Freedom High School diver, John McGinty, took second place in a recent tri meet against Emmaus and Southern Lehigh last Friday at Liberty High School.
McGinty scored 189.85 points.
"It felt pretty good. I haven't been practicing much because I've been sick, but lately, I've just been doing regular dives," McGinty said.
The Patriot junior's best dive was his most difficult, a reverse one-and-a-half, half twist.
"Once you get it down, it just clicks," McGinty said, "but I overrotated on my back one-and-a-half, half twist."
McGinty also did well on his back one straight.
"I got a lot of height," he said.
McGinty's first dive was a front one-and-a-half.
"I got good scores, but I got stuck at the top. I didn't rotate fast enough," said McGinty.
McGinty also did an inward dive pike and a reverse one tuck.
Freedom diving coach, Jeff Zettlemoyer said, "I was very happy. He just missed one dive. He could have lined another one up for eights because he had a 6.5, 7.0, 7.0."
The Patriots recently added two new male divers to its team, senior, Dan Corvino, and junior, Chris Cooke.
