Charter Arts HS: Nashville visit

Charter Arts senior and instrumental major Yale Rosin, along with CA director of Instrumental music Mr.Wells, and brass specialist, Mr. Maher, traveled to Nashville, Tenn., in late Oct.

Yale was selected to participate in the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) All-National Honors Concert Band which features the best high school brass, woodwind and percussion players from across the entire United States. He is the first CA student to be selected for this national honor.

Touring Choir

The Charter Arts Touring Choir performed recently during the Raker Memorial Awards ceremony at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital.

Blood Drive

Staff and students participated in the student council blood drive for the Miller-Keystone Blood Center in early November.

Becahi: Merit student

Benbrook and Shaffer named commended students

Bethlehem Catholic HS seniors Kyle Benbrook and Andrew Shaffer have been named commended students in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program.

"Part of our mission and our fundamental purpose at Bethlehem Catholic is to encourage each and every one of our students to pursue high academic standards, so seeing students excel in academic arenas brings a particular pride to our entire faculty and administration," said school prinipal John P. Petruzzelli.

A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, were presented to the students.

Hawk new members

The BeCaHi Hawk Ambassadors have added several new members to assist with representing the student body and escorting special guests through the building. They are Kelly Blewitt, Bethanne Brandstetter, Rachel Cray, Brittney Cuddy, Madelyn Dundon, Maria Germanetti, Grant Hicks, Emily Hilliard, Lauren Hine, Matthew Leddy, Jennifer Lopez, Bryce Orloski, Kristina Palmisano, Katherine Pru, Brooke Rau, Julianne Reightler, Thomas Roginsky, Sabrina Sarli, Kylee Shivok, Robert Shuster, Alexandra Smyth, Kristen Spence, Terese Taglang, Maria Talpas, Elena Wachter, Aubrey Yaswinski and Kassi Yocco, juniors; and Zachary Blair, Matthew Chajnacki, Emma Gehringer, Madeline Henry, Marini Madawela, Matthew Ruchlin and Rachel Shi, seniors.

Farmersville: Help

A Farmersville ES fifth grade student is fighting for her life against a rare, incurable form of POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). Her condition has deteriorated rapidly in recent weeks, despite the efforts of specialists at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Farmersville students are making angel ornaments and adding personal notes for Alana. Families and staff are making monetary donations to Alana's Angels, a Go Fund Me site to help ease the financial burden of mounting medical costs. They are asking for the public's help; visit www.gofundme.com/angelsforalana.

Donegan: Dasher

The Donegan Dashers after school girls running program at Donegan ES is designed to foster positive emotional, social, and physical development in at-risk students. Appropriate cold-weather running gear is needed. The school has partnered with Aardvark Sports Shop in an "Adopt a Donegan Dasher" initiative.

Selecting an ornament to keep and purchase the at cost item listed on the tag. Bruce Haines and The Aardvark Sports Shop, who were instrumental in the creation of the Donegan Dashers program, will see that your item is given to a needy student. For information, email kathywest1974@yahoo.com.
