WESTERN SALISBURY COLUMN

The members of Salisbury High School's No Place For Hate are selling bracelets, lanyards and key chains as a fundraiser for the group.

The bracelets are made by families in the Philippines and a large portion of the proceeds go right back to provide a sustainable income for the families. A price list and examples are available on the SHS website. Members are selling items at lunch and school events through Dec. 23. For more info contact the NPFH advisor, Miss Dos Santos at ldossantos@stsd.org.

Just another reminder the Holiday Shoppe at Western Salisbury Elementary School is open Dec. 10 to 12. Did anyone call and volunteer to help? WSE's winter concert is scheduled 2 p.m. Dec. 10. Students in fourth and fifth grades, the band and the chorus will perform. A snow date is scheduled Dec. 15. A survey was sent out to parents last year concerning switching the time of school concerts from the evening to during school hours. It looks like the afternoon time slot won in the survey.

WSE is hosting its second giving project of the year. Students are collecting new winter hats, gloves and scarves for local families. The collection continues through Dec. 15.

The PTA of WSE will host a "Holiday Night with Santa" 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 12.

The winter concert for Salisbury Middle School is scheduled 7 p.m. Dec. 11 which includes the concert band, jazz band (my personal favorite) and the chorus.

Salisbury Township schools will dismiss early for the Christmas break Dec. 23. SHS and SMS will dismiss 12:15 p.m. WSE and Harry S Truman will dismiss students 1 p.m. Woo Hoo!

A curriculum committee meeting is scheduled 7 p.m. Dec. 16 and a school board meeting is scheduled 7:30 p.m. Dec 17. Both meetings will be in the administration building, 1140 Salisbury Road.

Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church has a lot going in December. The Wandering Singers Christmas concert will be 7 p.m. Dec. 12. Come out and sing some traditional and some not so traditional Christmas carols.

The church will host the monthly breakfast 8 to 11 a.m. Dec. 13. A donation is suggested. All proceeds will benefit the 275th anniversary celebration at the church.

Last on the list is the second annual Christmas craft and vendor fair at the church. The event is 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 20. Local crafters and several vendors will be on hand with goods to sell. Breakfast and lunch food will be available, along with a bake sale for those with a sweet tooth. There also will be a raffle with the prizes donated by the crafters participating in the fair. Sounds like a good way to spend a Saturday morning.
