LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

FALCON INSIDER

Salisbury High School's Student Government Advisory's annual holiday toy drive continues now through Dec. 12. This year's drive will benefit the pediatric/childrens' units at Lehigh Valley Health Network.

The toy drive is also functioning as the December competition for the Falcon Cup. For every five items donated on LVHN's Toy Drive Wish List, one point will be awarded for the graduating class or faculty team making the donation. Toy categories have been chosen by the class advisors, class presidents and Principal Heather Morningstar.

Sophomores are asked to donate items on the "general" list, seniors are to donate items from the "infant/toddler" list, juniors the "preschool" list, faculty the "games" list, and freshmen the "school age" list.

LVHN's toy drive list was emailed to all classes and faculty. Email Michael Anderson at manderson@stsd.org with any questions.

SHS's No Place for Hate is holding a Threads of Hope fundraiser. They are selling round and flat bracelets, lanyards and bracelets, lanyards and key chains handmade by men, women and children living in impoverished areas of the Philippines. Each item is unique and one of a kind. Purchases will not only help NPFH with future activities, but a large portion of sales go directly to the Philippine families who made the items.

The items are being sold during lunches, at events and by individual NPFH members now through Dec. 23. They make great Christmas or "just because" gifts. Email the NPFH advisor, Laura Dos Santos at ldossantos@stsd.org, with any questions.

A SHS winter pep rally is tentatively scheduled for Dec. 17 during Falcon Period. There will be a class caroling competition and a half-court shot competition.

For the class caroling competition, each class and faculty will pick one of five songs out of a hat to sing at the winter pep rally for Falcon Cup points. The classes and faculty will be scored on how well they know the song, the spirit in how it is performed and how well the classes and faculty sound.

For the half-court shot competition, students and faculty may drop their name in the correct containers for the chance to make a half-court shot during the pep rally. Of the chosen, the first one to make the shot will win a $50 Visa gift card. One student per class and one faculty member will have the chance to win. Only one entry per student and faculty member is allowed. Containers are in the school counseling office. Good luck to all.
