Bethlehem Catholic High School announced that Mr. Jose Medina has been hired as the new head varsity girls' basketball coach.
Medina is a graduate of Liberty High School where he played both baseball and basketball. While at Liberty, he was an all-league pitcher in the former East Penn Conference and earned a baseball scholarship to Alvernia University.
Following high school, he graduated from the Alvernia University receiving a BA in criminal justice and then DeSales University completing his secondary education degree. In 2009, he earned a master's degree in educational leadership and principal certification from Wilkes University.
While at Alvernia University, Medina was a four year member of the baseball team.
Medina has experience serving as an assistant coach in the former Lehigh Valley Conference (LVC). He has spent time as a girls' varsity assistant coach at both Emmaus and Liberty high schools. He also served as the head coach for the freshman girls' basketball team at Freedom High School.
"We are very excited to welcome Jose onto our athletic staff. We are blessed to add someone of Jose's caliber at this time of the year," said Chris Domyan, Bethlehem Catholic Athletic Director.
"He will be a terrific role model for our student-athletes," Domyan added.
