Alburtis Borough Council
The Alburtis Borough was invited to partner with Lehigh County Juvenile Probation Community Alternative Work Service Program to assist with youth in court ordered community service.
Council passed a motion to join the program at its meeting Nov. 24.
Chris Boehm, manager of Macungie borough, sent a memo the borough is holding a rain barrel workshop at Macungie Institute March 2015 and requested Alburtis Borough partner with Macungie Borough to provide refreshments. Council agreed and Sharon Trexler, executive secretary, will attend the workshop.
The borough council wants to replace a snow blower for the borough. Two quotes were received but both were high. More quotes are needed before a decision can be made.
Borough council was notified Salisbury Township, Hanover Township and Emmaus Borough are jointly requesting a 10-year extension of time from the U.S. Environmental Protective Agency related to sanitary sewer system compliance requirements.
A sample SW Comprehensive Plan Agreement between the boroughs of Macungie and Alburtis and the townships of Lower Macungie, Lower Milford and Upper Milford was received. Council passed a motion accepting the agreement with two opposing the agreement. Councilpersons Kathleen Raines and John Aleszczyk voted no. Solicitor David Knerr will prepare an ordinance.
The fence line at The Fields at Lockridge is staked out and should be installed in the next two weeks. Crews are working on the swales but the swales will not be completed until the houses are built.
Tax Collector Samantha Trexler notified Alburtis council she would like to appoint Pat Vassilaros as deputy tax collector in case something happens to her. Knerr will prepare a resolution.
Council passed a motion to appoint Equinox Agency in Allentown to solicit proposals for health care for Alburtis borough.
