Freedom High School's diving team for the upcoming season will consist of two returners, Madison Young and John McGinty.

Although the Patriots are currently looking for more divers, coach Jeff Zettlemoyer is expecting good things from his two juniors.

"I think John has a chance to make states, and Madison has a chance at making states," Zettlemoyer said.

McGinty is what Zettlemoyer calls a complete diver.

"He is working on form and technique and getting his degrees of difficulty up," said Zettlemoyer.

McGinty's strengths are his ability to get off the board, line up his dives, and complete his dives.

Zettlemoyer is impressed with the progress that Young has made in the off-season.

"She upped her degree of difficulty on a few dives. She is making a steady climb to being an elite diver in the district," he said.

Zettlemoyer also noted that both divers are very good students.

"If they want to dive in college, they'll be sought after," said Zettlemoyer.
