SOLDIERS: Stocking donations being accepted

The Press will once again collect items for Stockings for Soldiers through Nov. 20.

Our brave Troops in Afghanistan would love to receive stockings for the holidays.

This project sent over 10,000 stockings last year. We want to continue to let them know we are thinking of them while they are away from home and their families. We need your help to fill them up with holiday cheer and goodies to remind them of home.

All items can be dropped off at the Parkland office, 1633 North 26th St. or the Bethlehem office at 308 East Third St.

The items most needed or requested by the troops are: power bars, cereal bars, trail mix, granola bars and healthy snacks.

Individual snacks like crackers, cookies, cheese/cracker kits are also requested.

Peanut butter and jelly in small sized plastic jars are requested.

Other requsted items include toothbrushes, small toothpaste, foot powder, foot cream for athlete's foot, CDs and DVDs – new or used, (current releases are appreciated), AT&T global pre-paid calling cards, Christmas stockings 12 inch to 20 inch in size, Christmas hats – Santa or Elf type, Slim Jims, instant coffee/hot tea/coffee creamer and sugar packets, Chap stick, Blistex, travel size deodorant, boot odor eaters, hand sanitizer, boot socks, hand and foot warmers, thermal gloves or glove liners, new or used games systems like PS3, Xbox, etc.

Monetary contributions are also needed to help defray the cost of shipping.

Thank you for supporting our troops.
