Michelle L. Geiger has been named as South Whitehall's newest police officer.

South Whitehall Township commissioners agreed Nov. 5 to have Geiger fill the vacancy in the police department.

A graduate of Catasauqua High School, Geiger, 32, earned a Bachelor's degree from East Stroudsburg University

She received Act 120 certification at the Montgomery County Police Academy in June 2013 and has met all requirements of the township Civil Service Commission for entry level patrol officer.

Since 2005, she has been a security officer for Dorney Park and Wild Water Kingdom and has been chief of security since March 2014.

She has also been serving as a part-time patrol officer for the Borough of Fountain Hill.

Geiger will be assigned to a field training officer.
