Bertha C. Ballas, formerly of Egypt, died Nov. 3, 2014, in the home of her daughter, Susan Heffelfinger, of New Tripoli.

She was the widow of Stephen R. Ballas, who died in 2002.

Born in Ormrod, she was the daughter of the late John and Josephine (Zima) Strongowski.

She was co-owner of the former Ballas Distributing Co., Northampton, for many years.

She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Orefield.

Her survivors include sons Dennis and his wife, Susan, Michael and his wife, Elaine, of Northampton; daughter Susan Heffelfinger of New Tripoli; grandchildren Matthew, Melissa, Mary and Theresa; great-granddaughters Kendall and Harper; and sister Stella Nederostek of Jim Thorpe.

She was predeceased by a daughter Bonnie; son, Gregory; brothers Julius and Walter; sisters Catherine Stetler, Florence Wasko and Anna Konapeyus.
