Spooktacular is a free event hosted through the Lehigh University Community Service Office. It featured trick-or-treating at Trembley Park apartments, pumpkin carving at Psi Upsilon Fraternity, an assortment of 18 arts and crafts and activities, two haunted houses and food. The event was geared toward younger audiences, but remained family oriented and friendly for all ages.

Director of the Community Service Office Carolina Hernandez said halfway through the day, 439 people had attended and they were anticipating between 600 and 700.

"It's one of those days you leave feeling inspired by," she said.

The South Bethlehem community is invited to the event through the local schools.

"My favorite thing is seeing all the kids on Lehigh's campus for the first time," said student Katherine Fletcher. "They all live around here, but it's their first time coming into a building and feeling welcome."

"It's a great community event," Hernandez said. "Anytime I go out, kids know about Spooktacular. It's a great opportunity for us to open our doors and become one community with South Bethlehem."
