LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

'Whine Down' with renowned violinist

Renowned violinist Lindsay Deutsch performs her "Project: America: A Musical Journey," accompanied by ASO pianist, Michael Toth, as part of the "Wine Down Thursday" series, 5:30 p.m. Nov. 13, Rodale Room, Miller Symphony Hall.

Her recital, "A Tribute to American Composers," offers an animated discussion as she engages her audience with inventive renditions of American music, including jazz, blues, folk, country, pop and classical.

"Wine Down Thursday" was introduced this season at Miller Symphony Hall as a relaxed and informal way to expose audiences to various genres of music and events. Patrons can enjoy wine and greeting before the performance and afterwards while mingling with musicians.

Deutsch performs with the Young People's Philharmonic (YPP) of the Lehigh Valley at schools in the Allentown and Bethlehem school districts and at the Arts Academy in Allentown, Nov. 12 and at the Holiday Concert, 4 p.m. Dec. 21.

Deutsch's appearance and residency is a result of the Young People's Philharmonic of the Lehigh Valley being selected winner of the Classics Alive Youth Orchestra Residency Program, one of four youth orchestra winners in the United States. In addition to the school tours and holiday concert, Deutsch will work with the young musicians in rehearsal.

Jim Minneman, President of the YPP said, "This is a great learning opportunity for our young musicians as well as for more than 1,000 students in the Allentown and Bethlehem school districts and at the Arts Academy who will attend the school tours.

"It is also a great opportunity for members of the community to see and hear Lindsay [Deutsch] in recital at Miller Symphony Hall on Nov. 13 and again when she returns to play with the YPP at our holiday concert on Dec. 21."
