"Already," alrighty: Claudia Schmidtl, above, performs songs, including "Already," from her new Red House album, "New Whirled Order," at 8 p.m. Nov. 8, Godfrey Daniels, 7 E. Fourth St., Bethlehem. It's her first studio album for the Grammy-winning indie label since 2000. The album includes master jazz guitarist Dean Magraw and an ensemble of other great players. Schmidt, with a multi-octave voice, blends folk and jazz idioms. The album marks a return to the national spotlight. As her career was ascending and she was easily selling out large theaters, Schmidt turned her back on the music business to open a bed and breakfast with her husband on a small island in the middle of Lake Michigan. This detour lasted more than 10 years. When the marriage ended, she moved to Minneapolis, Minn., and began a creative renaissance and new chapter in her life. Also on the bill: Sally Rogers.
