Police charge one in bomb threat, investigate second threat

A 14-year-old Whitehall High School student was charged Oct. 21 in connection with a bomb threat made at the high school Oct. 14.

In a written statement, police said the student was charged with one count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct for intentionally making the threat. The student is also subject to disciplinary measures through the district, up to and including, expulsion.

A note had been found in the bathroom stall indicating there was a bomb located inside the school, police said. A coordinated search of the building was conducted between the police department, Whitehall Fire Department and Whitehall-Coplay School District officials to ensure the safety of the students and faculty.

Township police and firefighters responded to another bomb threat Oct. 22 and 23.

The Oct. 22 incident occurred at 2:25 p.m. Students were not evacuated. Normal dismissal times were followed, police said.

Another threat was found Oct. 23 at 12:45 p.m. in the men's bathroom. Students were evacuated to campus schools due to weather conditions, police said.

The district notified parents of a campus lockdown until a thorough sweep was completed, police said.

Police continue to investigate.
