Hurricanes fall to EHS

After a 4-0 demolition of the Easton Red Rovers, the Liberty Hurricanes fell to Emmaus, 3-0, in the quarterfinal round of the District XI Boys Soccer Tournament.

Liberty coach Jason Horvath said, "We showed a lot of growth this year, but maybe the growth didn't show today. Maybe we didn't put the work in that allowed us to beat Easton."

Last Wednesday at Bethlehem Area School District Stadium, the Hurricanes struck early against Easton when Trevor Koski scored on an assist by Talhah Netherlin.

In the second half, Sammy Aviles scored on an assist by Koski. Later, Xander Kang and Aviles had back-to-back goals, scoring within two minutes of each other.

Last Friday at Emmaus, the Hornets led 1-0 at halftime after a goal by Parker Landis.

Horvath said, "[At halftime] we talked about making a better effort to get to the 50-50 balls."

Two more goals by the Hornets, one by Kacper Grycel and one by John Fritz, sealed the deal.

"We needed to play well today. This was not our best game of the year," said Horvath.

The Hurricanes finished the season with an overall record of 14-9.
