Bethlehem Area Public Library has proposed a $2.8 million budget for next year. But in good news for the municipalities who contribute every year, no additional money is being sought this year.

John Nagle, Hanover Township's representative to the Library Board, made this announcement at the Township's October 14 meeting.

The Library will still spend $251,000 for new books and ebooks. It is cutting back on office supplies, phones and other materials. It will pay more for utilities and a 1% increase overall on $1.9 million in salaries and benefits. The highest paid person at the library, Executive Director Josh Berk, will be paid $73,124.

A line item of $305 for Terminix was questioned.

"What's that for?" asked a Supervisor.

"To get rid of book worms," answered Hanover Public Works Director Vince Milite.

The contributions made by each participating municipality are as follows: Bethlehem, $1,277.082; Bethlehem Twp., - $404,166; Hanover Twp., $185,088; and Fountain Hill, $78,295

In addition, the library will receive $513,500 from the state.
