Coming off of its second loss of the season, the Parkland football team needed a win to gather some momentum heading into the final weeks of the regular season. It was a senior that stepped up the week before his final home game.
Preston Saylor came up big on both sides of the ball, rushing for a touchdown and clinching the game with an interception in the fourth quarter.
"He's been solid all year," said head coach Jim Morgans on Saylor. "He is a team guy and a good running back, but he want to make sure he is well rested on defense. He was our leading tackler last year, and is once again this year too. He just does a great job for us."
The Trojans welcome a struggling Nazareth team to town on Friday night. The Blue Eagles (2-6 overall, 2-5 EPC) have lost two in a row by double digits to East Stroudsburg North and Whitehall.
"We approach every game the same way no matter the opponent or their record," said Morgans. "You can never get too high or too low, just prepare the same way. We have respect for every opponent we play in this league. It is a tough league. It is a game we need to win for our district hopes. It's an obstacle we need to overcome."
Nazareth will be without starting quarterback Justin Albert due to injury, but still bring some quickness in their wide receiving core and the type of offense that they run.
"That's a major part of their offense," Morgans said. "They do a good job throwing screens in the flat and finding space. They're young and inexperienced, but they play hard."
It will be a game the seniors do not want to lose in their final home game, and one the Trojans need to win heading into the season finale against Emmaus next Friday night.
