The Emmaus Main Street Partners is holding a "Bucks, Bags & Bling Bingo" event 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 26 at St. John's United Church of Christ, 139 N. Fourth St. Doors open noon; refreshments will be available for purchase. The event includes a cash raffle, Chinese auction, bingo and special games. St. John's Lutheran Church, Fifth and Chestnut streets, is holding an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 25. There is a cost; children under 5 years of age are admitted at no cost.
Emmaus' trick-or-treat night is 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 30. Turn on your porch light if you would like to be visited by trick-or-treaters.
The Emmaus Moravian Church, 146 Main St., will host a holiday craft and vendor show 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 1. The kitchen will be open for a light lunch and snacks. For information, email emccraftshow@gmail.com.
The Emmaus Historical Society museum, 563 Chestnut St., is decorated for Halloween through Oct. 31. The museum is open noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays. John and Marlene Herbein will present a history of antique tools and a display of their collectibles at the Nov. 19 meeting. The program will be held at 7 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church Parish Hall, Fifth and Chestnut streets.
The Seven Generations Charter School will host a holiday fair 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 8 at the school, 154 E. Minor St. The craft show features crafters, an art auction, live music, a hot chocolate bar, a photo booth and a special appearance by Elsa and Anna from Frozen, performed by members of the group A Storybook Party. The Emmaus Farmers' Market is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays through Thanksgiving in the Emmaus National Penn Bank parking lot, 235 Main St. Halloween at the Market will be held Oct. 26 and Nov. 23 is customer appreciation day.
The Emmaus Kiwanis Club is holding its annual fruit sale. The sale includes 2/5 or 4/5 bushel boxes of navel oranges, tangelos and red grapefruit. Mixed cases also are available. The club is also offering a holiday pie sale. Orders need to be placed by Nov. 16. Delivery will be Dec. 5 at JAS Wholesale, 4501 Colebrook Ave. To order fruit or pies call 610-972-3270.
Faith Presbyterian Church, Second and Cherokee streets, holds Zumba classes, 9 to 10 a.m. Oct. 25, Nov. 1, 8 and 15.
The GFWC-PA-Woman's Club of Emmaus will host a Halloween card party 11:30 a.m. Oct. 30 at St. John's Lutheran Church's parish hall. Attendees are welcome to bring games of their choice. A light lunch will be served. There is a cost to attend. Proceeds benefit the club's scholarship program and other charitable contributions. Emmaus Borough Council meets 7 p.m. Nov. 3 and 17 in council chambers at borough hall, 28 S. Fourth St. The budget and finance committee meets 6:45 to 7 p.m. prior to the council meetings.
The borough offices are closed Nov. 11 for Veterans Day and Nov. 27 and 28 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Leaf collection in the borough continues through Dec. 6. Collections are 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
All senior citizens over the age of 55 are invited to the Emmaus Senior Citizens' meetings at St. Matthew's E.C. Church, Ridge and Fifth streets. The group meets 1 p.m. The program lineup for November is Nov. 7: musician Roger Trice; Nov. 14: an auction; Nov. 21 game day. There will be no meeting Nov. 28 due to the Thanksgiving holiday. The Emmaus Public Library has many children's programs scheduled in November. Registration is required for many of the children's events:
Stars story times, programs for 3-, 4- and 5-year olds, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays; Suns story times, programs for 2-year-olds, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursdays. Books and Barks, which allows a child to read aloud to a Lehigh Valley therapy dog in the community room, will be 6:45 to 8 p.m. Nov. 13. Reading Adventure, a program for second and third grade students, will be 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays. Topics are outer space Nov. 10; winter Nov. 17; and Thanksgiving Nov. 24. Literary Lunch for grades six to eight will be held noon Nov. 22. Literary Lunch Jr. for grades four and five will be held noon Nov. 8. Teen Read for grades nine through 12 is held 7 p.m. Nov. 6. Fun Family Film Night is scheduled 6 p.m. Nov. 20. Attendees are encouraged to come in pajamas and bring pillows and sleeping bags. The movie in November is "Charlotte's Web." Be sure to visit 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 30 during trick-or-treat night in Emmaus. The library staff members would love to see the costumes.
The library hosts a monthly movie matinee for adults. The movie titles are listed at the library. The next movie event is 1 p.m. Nov. 12.
The Pennsylvania Dept. of Health will hold a monthly blood pressure screening at the library 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 24. Appointments may be scheduled through the Department of Health, 610-821-6770. Cheers to Emmaus and the Emmaus Police Department on a recent honor. According to a recent post on Movoto Real Estate blog, the borough of Emmaus was listed as the fifth safest place to live in Pennsylvania. The criteria for the selection were based on crime statistics using the 2012 FBI Uniform Crime Report for places to live in Pennsylvania with populations of 10,000 people or more.
The Friends of the Emmaus Public Library will hold a wine and cheese reception and holiday book sale 6 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 5. The Emmaus Jazz Ensemble will entertain visitors.
Emmaus' Old Fashioned Christmas is scheduled for Dec. 6.
