EASTERN SALISBURY COLUMN HST to hold annual parade on Halloween
It's hard to believe it is the middle of October already...let alone we are thinking of Halloween.
On Oct. 31, Harry S Truman Elementary School will hold the annual parade. Weather permitting, it will be outside 2 p.m. Morning kindergarten will parade 10:45 a.m.
Salisbury Township will hold trick-or-treat night 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31. Be aware of children who may be in the streets at these hours. Parents, try to keep children in groups and with some type of light or reflective clothing to increase their visibility.
Karen Geiger's classroom is holding a fundraiser to assist the Last Chance Ranch and the Lehigh County Humane Society to purchase needed supplies. There is a donation jar in the library if children wish to donate. The funds will go to help purchase any items these places need to support the animals in their care until the animals can find their forever homes.
There is no school Nov. 4. This is also Election Day. Don't forget to make your voice heard through your vote.
HST will hold its annual book fair Nov. 3 through 7. More information will come home soon regarding evening hours and scheduled classroom shopping times.
Did you miss school photo day? Retakes will be held Nov. 3. More information will come home soon.
The next HST PTO meeting will be 7 p.m. Nov. 3.
There will also be an operations committee meeting 7 p.m. Nov. 3 at HST.
This is also the season for fundraisers.
Salisbury twirlers will hold a Longaberger basket bingo 1 p.m. Nov. 9 at Salisbury Middle School. Doors open noon.
The Salisbury Music Association is holding a fundraiser with Dan Schantz. All purchases with a flyer will provide a contribution to the association. The flyer can be found on www.stsd.org.
The Class of 2016 is holding a citrus fundraiser. Orders are due Oct. 30 for delivery before Thanksgiving. Flyers are available in the schools; orders can be dropped off at Salisbury High School. Questions can be directed to krossetti@stsd.org or Debragalbraith@aol.com.
The Franko Farm yard waste collection site will be open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 25 and Nov. 8.
The township will begin the vacuum leaf collection Oct. 27. The collection will start in the first ward and move west as weather permits. Residents are asked not to park cars in the same area the leaves are to assist the crew in collecting the leaves.
