Student Profile: Brendan Weaver, Saucon Valley HS
Grade: 12
Family members: Kent Weaver (father); Julie Weaver (mother), brothers Davis Weaver, Timmy Weaver and Sammy Weaver, and Maisy (my dog!)
Favorite subject: My favorite subject is by far history/social studies. I love to learn about our nation's history and the history of the international community as well as the cultures which encompass the globe. Additionally, I really enjoy the study of music and French.
Activities: I am a four-year member of varsity cross country, and one of this season's captains, and track teams. I have participated annually in the school musical since fourth grade and have attained various leading roles throughout the years. I am an executive officer of the SVHS National Honor Society and head of the fundraising committee for SVHS MiniTHON. I am an officer of Model UN and a member of UNICEF Club. I also participate in chorus and select choir, for which I am the 2014-15 librarian. Last but not least, I will be performing, along with one of my brothers, as the SVHS Panther at all home sporting events.
Next steps: I will be attending a four-year college/university in hopes of majoring in musical theater and/or international relations or communications.
Career goals: I hope to perform as a full-time actor on Broadway or somewhere that will pay me. I also plan on becoming the new Matt Lauer. I'll go with whichever comes first.
Heroes: My grandparents, Mimi and Pop-pop and Grammy (in spirit) and Pop-pop are my heroes because they have all accepted every member of my very large family with love and support. Ellen DeGeneres and Harry Potter are top contenders in this category because both are just awesome.
Hobbies: I like singing in the shower loud enough so my neighbors can hear me. I like going on unexpected adventures with my friends and hanging out with my cousins. I love snuggling with my dog, Maisy. I study maps and like to look up any information I do not know. I like to exercise and play sports with family and friends, specifically volleyball.
Current job(s): I am a seasonal employee at Black River Farms, an eco-friendly vineyard where I weed, cultivate grapes and pick up rocks and put them down.
Volunteer/community work: I volunteer as a cantor at Assumption B.V.M. Church. I also volunteer as a Sunday school teacher. I am a two-time Northampton County Special Olympics volunteer and participate in many National Honor Society service projects. In an upcoming summer, I plan to go to China and volunteer at a camp for orphans.
Likes: Cold days at the beach, singing, dancing, autumn, acting, playing sports, working out, going to SV sporting events, the JUNGLE, leisurely reading, Bethany Beach, traveling, trying different foods, Christmas, volunteering, helping those in need, and studying history cultures and languages.
Dislikes: A large amount of snow days, teacher strikes, doing poorly on assignments, mustard, soda, Styrofoam, spicy food, when everyone in a room crowds around one piano and sings an Adele or Journey song, unaccepting and ignorant people, and when I don't fully understand information given to me.
Greatest accomplishment (so far): My greatest accomplishments include when I was a leader of Saucon Valley's first Mini-THON, which raised over $11,000 last year, and being part of the new wave of SV school spirit.
Advice for peers: Always work as hard as you can in every activity you participate in. Remember that academics come first, but also try a range of activities in the time you have. Be friends with everyone and never be exclusive or judgmental to anyone. Lastly, take your SATs earlier than I did and never walk in the middle of a Saucon hallway.
