Public invited to hearings

A Whitehall official urges residents to attend the 2015 budget hearings.

At the Oct. 13 commissioners meeting, board President Linda Snyder made a plea for township residents to attend the upcoming series of budget hearings.

"I'd appreciate it very much," Snyder said, after asking for people to attend. These are held after the unveiling of the proposed 2015 budget – which was to have taken place at noon Oct. 15, which is after The Press deadline.

The budget hearings are scheduled for 6 p.m. Oct. 28, 29 and 30 at the municipal building at MacArthur Road and Municipal Drive. At the hearings the commissioners will review in detail, at times making changes to, the tentative budget submitted by the administration.

The heads of the departments – public works, recreation, administration, fire, police, planning/development and zoning – will outline their proposed budgets and answer questions.

Mayor Edward D. Hozza Jr. and Deputy Mayor Jack Meyers also will attend. The commissioners will not adopt the budget until their meeting in December.
