South Whitehall Commissioners Board Vice President Glenn Block explained his views on the Wehr's Dam issue to the Press after the Oct. 1 commissioners' meeting.
"I want to make sure all sides are heard, then we can make the best decision," Block said. "There would have to be a compelling reason, environmental, financial, to tear it down. I am interested in practicality, whether it needs to come down or doesn't.
"If there is no compelling reason, I'm in favor of leaving things the way they are."
Block referred to the KCI Technologies review and the proposed study by a structural engineering specialist hired by South Whitehall.
"We'll make the proper decision after both reports are in," Block said. "We'll make sure there's transparency from both sides.
"The independent study hopefully will put the public at ease for any potential conflict of interest."
