Ellen V. Nicholas, 73, of George Dillard Manor, Slatington, died Oct. 13, 2014, surrounded by her loving family, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

Born in Palmerton, she was a daughter of the late Russell and Tessie (McFarland) Nicholas.

A 1960 graduate of Slatington High School, she was the lifelong caregiver of niece Linda Lou Haupt until her passing in 2007.

Her survivors include sons Jason A. and his wife, Anne-Marie, of Slatington, Jamie L. and his wife, Rebecca, of Coaldale; sisters Margaret A. Rex of Allentown and Barbara A. Ruch of Lehigh Township; brother Dr. Paul E. Nicholas and his wife, Jo, of Seven Lakes, N.C.; grandchildren Johnathan and Josette; and nieces, nephews and their families;

She was predeceased by brothers Herbert and Lee Nicholas and sister Alice Haupt.

Her services will be 7:30 p.m. Oct. 16, in Gilbert Funeral Home, 444 Pershing Blvd, Whitehall, where her viewing will begin 6 p.m.

Her interment will be at 10 a.m. Oct. 18, in Union Cemetery, Slatington, with Pastor Robert Bird officiating.
