Police arrested a 29-year-old man on intoxication and driving infraction charges after he allegedly almost ran over an officer on foot around 2 a.m. Oct. 4.

According to police, Michael Kornafel, of Cherokee Street, fled the area of the Tally Ho tavern, where the near-miss took place.

Kornafel was stopped on West Fourth Street, and officers determined he was highly intoxicated.

Kornafel si charged with DUI, careless driving, fleeing, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
