Berner serves as ambassador
Megan L. Berner of Whitehall was one of 60 students selected to serve as a valley ambassador for Lebanon Valley College.
Berner, a graduate of Whitehall High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in actuarial science.
As a valley ambassador for Lebanon Valley College, Berner gives tours to prospective students and their families through LVC, allowing them to see the academic quad, a typical classroom, a dorm room and the athletic fields, while providing knowledge of "The Valley."
BLOOMSBURG UNIVERSITY
Glen receives award
Brittany Elizabeth Glen of Northampton was recently awarded a Love of Learning award worth $500 by The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. She is among 147 recipients nationwide.
Glen, now a graduate student at East Stroudsburg University, plans to apply funds from the award toward tuition as she pursues a master of science degree in speech-language pathology and audiology. Glen was initiated into the society in 2013 at Bloomsburg University.
The Phi Kappa Phi Love of Learning Award program was created in 2007 to help fund graduate or professional studies, doctoral dissertations, continuing education, career development and travel related to teaching and studies for active society members.

RHODE ISLAND
Foster named to dean's list
Brian J. Foster, of Northampton, was named to the University of Rhode Island dean's list for the spring 2014 semester.
To be named to the dean's list a student must have a 3.30 grade-point average or higher.
Foster is pursuing a doctorate of pharmacy at the university and is a 2013 graduate of Allentown Central Catholic.
CEDAR CREST COLLEGE
Resident receives scholarship
Victoria Hinman, a 2009 graduate of Northampton Area High School, received $2,000 to attend Cedar Crest College.
The money comes from the Earl and Mary Redner and Garwy W. Redner Scholarship Fund, administer by Berks County Community Foundation.

PENN STATE UNIVERSITY
Farwell receives award
Sara Lynn Nicole Farwell of Whitehall was recently awarded a Love of Learning award worth $500 by The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. She is among 147 recipients nationwide.
Farwell, now a doctoral student and graduate research assistant at Lehigh University, plans to use funds from the award to attend the Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology 2015 National Conference. She was initiated into the society in 2011 at Pennsylvania State University.

WILKES UNIVERSITY
Local students graduate
Wilkes University awarded 369 doctoral, master's and bachelor's degrees at the summer commencement ceremony held Sept. 7 in the Arnaud C. Marts Sports and Conference Center.
Amber Konek of Northampton received a Master of Science in education.
Tracy Rolles of Northampton received a Master of Science in education.
Casey Lewis of Coplay received a Master of Science in education.
ALVERNIA UNIVERSITY
Local students attending
The Class of 2018 has enrolled at Alvernia University, beginning this fall semester.
Local students include Lauren Hart of Whitehall, a biochemistry major, and Rae'anna Faggins of Whitehall, a psychology major.
ALBRIGHT COLLEGE
Resident awarded scholarship
Liam Bollinger of Catasauqua was awarded a Founders Scholarship of $100,000 ($25,000 per year for four years).
Bollinger is a freshman physics/secondary education major.
The scholarship is offered to students with outstanding academic records. Recipients generally rank in the top 5 percent of their high school graduation classes.
