In a recent battle of top-10 teams, the ninth-ranked Bloomsburg University field hockey team fell to third-ranked West Chester by a score of 2-0 at Steph Pettit Stadium.

West Chester got on the board first in the 25th minute when Mary Spisak carried the ball into the circle and flicked a shot over the head of Bloomsburg goalie Lindsey Cassel for a 1-0 lead.

Bloomsburg had two scoring attempts late in the half. The first was a shot by Laura Gerhard (Catasauqua) with less than five minutes to go, but her shot went wide left. Then with just 12 seconds to play in the half Felicia Domenici (Pleasant Valley) had a shot attempt go wide right.

Gerhard has two goals an assist this season and leads the team with 13 shots on goal.
