Parkland was able to execute well and do things they wanted to do last Friday night against Easton, but turnovers and two big plays kept the Trojans from knocking off the unbeaten Red Rovers 28-21.

Parkland (5-2, 3-2) contained the electric Shane Simpson, holding him in check for more than three and a half quarters, but also had their own problems running the ball. They finished with just 47 yards and a costly fumble. The Trojans threw for 267 yards.

"We knew we would have an advantage in the passing game, so that's why the numbers may look like they do," said head coach Jim Morgans. "It was in our game plan to throw the ball a lot more."

Now Parkland turns its attention to taking down another undefeated team in Freedom (7-0 overall, 5-0 South) on Friday night at Bethlehem Area School District Stadium.

The Patriots come in off an emotional come from behind victory at Whitehall last weekend, 29-28.

"They're an opportunistic team, and are playing really well this season," said Morgans. "They do well in the turnover aspect of the game, and that is something that we are going to have to watch. We have worked really hard on keeping the turnovers down, and I'm proud of how hard the kids are working at it. I think we'll be fine, we just need to shore up a few things."

Patriot quarterback Joe Young threw for a touchdown, and ran for another last. Running back Joseph Santos also scored a rushing touchdown, and was the hero of the night, finding the end zone on a two-point conversion attempt in overtime to beat the Zephyrs.

Parkland's offense has been inconsistent over the last three weeks in losses to Whitehall and Easton, and a victory over Liberty.

Junior quarterback Devante Cross has been able to find his wideouts, and put up good numbers. Jarey Elder and Kenny Yeboah have been the usual targets on Cross's passes.

The Trojans suddenly find themselves with two losses in their last three games. They need a win to get back on the right track, and to help secure a spot in the district playoffs.
