Salisbury High School will play Catasauqua for the homecoming game this year. Game time is 7 p.m. Oct. 17.

If you are a Salisbury alumni, or even if you are not, come out and support the Falcons.

The homecoming dance will be held 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 18 in the old gym.

Salisbury Middle School will hold its second dance of the school year 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 24.

The first marking period for SHS and SMS will end Oct. 29.

There is a lot to report from the Western Salisbury Elementary PTA.

First, the McDonalds night scheduled for Oct. 16 has been cancelled.

There is a Scholastic book fair scheduled Oct. 20 to 24. This event coincides with the parent visit days scheduled 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Oct. 21 and 1:30 to 3 p.m. Oct. 23. After visiting with your children in their classrooms, stop in the gym and pick up some early Christmas presents.

The PTA's biggest event of the year is the fall fest scheduled Oct. 24. The event runs 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and has a lot going on. There will be carnival games, crafts, a cake walk, a kid's workshop and much more. A special guest will also visit Pee Wee the Potbelly Pig. There will be a piggy painting raffle and an opportunity to get a picture taken with Pee Wee. Did I mention there will also be food? Popcorn, cotton candy and shaved ice will be available to purchase.

Leading up to the fall fest, the students have been donating money in their classrooms. The classroom collecting the most money will get to kiss Pee Wee at the festival. At press time, Mrs. Reinhard's first grade class was in the lead. Let's see if the students can keep it until Oct. 24. All proceeds from the fall fest benefit the Western Salisbury Elementary School field trip fund.

The regularly scheduled PTA meeting 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 29 will be anything but regular. Before the meeting there will be a potluck dinner for all to enjoy. Bring your favorite food to share and enjoy a yummy meal with other WSE families.

Since Halloween actually lands on a Friday this year, the student parade of costumes will be held Oct. 31. Trick or treat for the township children will be held 6 to 8 p.m.

Salisbury Township Department of Public Works will start curbside leaf collection Oct. 27. Pickup will run 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays. The pickups will start in the first ward on the eastern side of the township and continue west. Place leaves along the edge of the road and keep vehicles away from the leaves so the crews can get the vacuum as close as possible. Do not place anything on top of the leaves to weigh the leaves down because foreign objects can damage the leaf machine. Remember public works department crews are only collecting leaves. Branches and shrubs will not be picked up.

The Devonshire yard waste drop off will be open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 18 and 21.

Salisbury Middle School Prosper continues its monthly fundraiser of Market Day food. This month is dessert bonus days which means Prosper earns more money for items purchased. To see what food Market Day offers, visit www.marketday.com or call Dixie at 610-351-6156.
