Weston Senior Living Center, Northampton, observed its 20th anniversary last Saturday with a gala celebration at which residents, family, staff and dignitaries joined for an afternoon of activities, picnic, cake, music and a program.
Mayor Thomas D. Reenock proclaimed Oct. 4 as "Weston Senior Living Center Day" in Northampton, to a rousing sound of applause by the large crowd on hand.
Founder and President Randy Weston, an occupational therapist, recalled delivering milk and bread to the seniors before he took over the helm in 1994, bringing aboard with him Administrator Michele Moser.
Known as Northampton Village until six months ago, Weston said the 1001 Washington Avenue facility now takes the name of its other four senior care centers.
State Rep. Julie Harhart, R-183rd, presented Weston Senior Living Center with a citation from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives noting its 20th anniversary.
"Northampton may be considered a bedroom community. Northampton Village Inc. for over 20 years has fufilled with honor their motto, 'Caring is What We Do Best for Our Seniors,'" Reenock said.
Bingo, polkas and celtic music filled the day's events.
