LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Unbeaten Rovers resemble Whitehall

It looks eerily similar to the team that beat Parkland two weeks ago. Easton brings a high-powered offense to Parkland School District Stadium this Friday night, one that the Trojans had trouble with against Whitehall two games before.

The Red Rovers put up huge numbers against the Zephyrs last Friday night, winning that game 63-49 to stay unbeaten at 6-0. It's something that head coach Jim Morgans knows his team can't afford to give up.

"We can't allow all of those points," Morgans said. "The key for us is going to be controlling the line of scrimmage. We have confidence in them that they can do that."

Another area Morgans would like to see success in, is minimal penalties that will lose them yardage and momentum.

"We need to play smarter and not commit so many penalties," said Morgans. "We need to clean that up and have no unforced errors. If we get flagged for something during the game from hustle, that's fine. But we can't make mental, unforced errors."

The Trojans are entering the game back on a winning streak, and are feeling confident once again heading into a big showdown against one of only two undefeated teams in the East Penn Conference.

"This is obviously a big game for us," said Morgans. "The win against Liberty was crucial because we'd be treading dangerous water if we had two losses coming into this one."

Like Whitehall, Easton has a feature back in Shane Simpson that they run their offense through. Simpson had an astounding 277 yards rushing and six touchdowns last weekend, and the Red Rovers offense had a total of 704 yards of total offense.

"Simpson is a really good running back," Morgans said. "But they have a lot of good athletes. We can't just focus solely on one guy, just like the Whitehall game [and Barkley]."

What will help the Trojans on defense is the return of senior captain Omar Haddad from injury, and the emergence of tailback Nolan Ridgway.
