CHS student to compete in Miss Teen USA competition

Catasauqua High School student Amarys Moten, age 17, has been selected to participate in the Miss Teen USA pageant to be held Dec. 5-7 at the Hyatt Recency Hotel, Pittsburgh.

Miss Teen USA pageants are held for young women ages 14-18.

Moten will be competing in swimsuit, evening gown and personal interview competitions.

The pageant system stresses good morals, physical fitness, communication skills, social awareness and community involvement.

Some of the items included in the prize package are college scholarships, modeling representation, a custome crown and communication skills sessions.

Amarys' activities include student council officer, class of 2015 historian, cheerleading, field hockey, basketball, softball, Angel 34 participant, Catasauqua Youth Association volunteer and youth basketball coach.

She also enjoys spending time with friends, listening to music and watching movies.

Amarys has recently accepted an invitation to work with Reinhard Modeling Agency in Philadelphia.

She has also appeared in magazine advertisements for Mane 'n Tail.

She plans to attend Susquehanna University next year to major in speech pathology and audiology.
