Allen Township Board of Supervisors have been asked by neighboring East Allen Township to address the First Regional Compost Authority on complaints from the public about bringing materials to the Weaversville drop-off site.
In a letter to Allen Supervisors Chairman Paul Balliet, East Allen asks Allen Township to join in notifying the FRCA of complaints from residents about the treatment they receive when dropping off materials at the compost facility.
Balliet and the board did say its representative on the authority would be apprised of East Allen's concerns.
"The township's participation as one of the municipalities who formed the authority shows our dedication to this project. Therefore, we find it puzzling to understand the increasing number of complaints the township receives each week, a number of which have been shared with the FRCA board and why this issue appears to be escalating. What has changed this situation?" wrote Supervisors Chairman Roger Unangst.
Unangst said he understands most complaints come from East Allen residents since the drop-off site is in East Allen. Unangst stated not all the complaints are from East Allen residents.
"We are asking that the FRCA board take steps to remediate the public relations issues which currently exist and return to the level of service with respect, which should exist between the FRCA staff and any resident who uses the site," Unangst wrote.
He added East Allen is asking its residents rights be respected by the FRCA staff who operate the site.
