Northampton Borough Council assured Joseph Andzeski his complaint of excessive noise from a tavern, as well as strewn beer bottles and cigarette butts in a driveway, will be addressed.
Andzeski, of East Seventh Street, went before council Sept. 18.
"Things have gotten out of hand," he said in reference to the Edelweis Haus at 702 Main St. "The excessive noise, I can't open my windows at night."
His home is located near the tavern.
Andzeski said his complaints are mostly about what occurs on weekdays. He cited issues as late as 2-4 a.m.
Beer bottles in the driveway and people outside smoking and leaving their cigarette butts on the ground, also has Andzeski upset.
He told council he has complained to police, but the matters remain unresolved.
"The big issue is the noise," he said.
Councilman Anthony Lopsonzki Sr., a retired borough police officer, gave Andzeski some advice.
"Keep a log on the complaints," he said. "Bring pressure to bear. Get as much information as you can."
Borough Manager Gene Zarayko said there have been discussions relating to the Edelweis Haus between the police chief, mayor and himself.
"Can [Edelweis Haus] be cited for excessive noise after 11?" Councilman Ed Pany asked.
Police Chief Ron Morey replied.
"Yes, we'll be on it," he said.
Pany then said maybe the one citation would be the remedy.
"It used to be a very busy bar," Zarayko said.
