Liberty's Erney is a dual-threat quarterback

Once the Parkland football team reached the locker room Friday night after the 38-24 loss at Whitehall, the common theme was "don't look back."

Falling for the first time this season, head coach Jim Morgans told his team to learn from the mistakes, but let this one go. Next up for the Trojans (4-1) is a home game against Liberty (3-2) Friday night.

"The Whitehall game is over," Morgans said. "We brought the kids in Saturday like we usually do, and made some corrections. We are focused on Liberty now."

The Hurricanes come into the game off a 42-33 win over Emmaus a week ago. Morgans is impressed with three year starter Doug Erney at quarterback, and tailbacks Darius Jones and Ryan Lawrence. All three combined to score every touchdown for Liberty last weekend.

"[Erney] is outstanding," said Morgans. "He knows the system. They have some great athletes at the skill positions, and their offensive tackle [Louis] Csaszar is going to Villanova."

While Morgans is keeping a close eye on the Hurricanes, he's also watching his team closely after a tough loss.

"The confidence is still there in the kids. I know that," said Morgans. "It was just one of those nights. But it's over."

One aspect Morgans is also hoping to go his way is the rushing game. After relying heavily on it through the early part of the season, the Trojans combined for only 61 yards last weekend. If that gets going, then the passing attack can be shown how electric it can be. Kenny Yeboah showed just that with three touchdown grabs against Whitehall.

Parkland needs this one as a confidence booster after getting shown up against its rival.
