Gilmartin ties for fourth at qualifier
Catasauqua golfer Michael Gilmartin took part in Monday's District 11 qualifier at Woodstone.
Gilmartin fired an 85 in the 2A competition, good enough to tie for fourth and enable him to move on to Monday's District 11 tournament at Shawnee.
The top-19 golfers qualified with 95 being the cutoff. Cory Haldeman of Moravian Academy was first with an 80. J.T. Barker of Becahi was second with an 81.

In a cross country meet at Salisbury last week, Catty's Dionis Lora took 14th with a time of 17:47.
Moravian Academy, Notre Dame, Palisades, Saucon Valley and Southern Lehigh took part. The Falcon's Kyle Gonoude was first with a time of 16:07.
On the girls side, Southern Lehigh's Mesert Hart took first in 18:49.
Catty's top girl was Madison Zangl who came in 45th with a time of 25:54.

The Catty field hockey team knocked off Wilson 5-0.
Shiloh Sziy scored two goals in the victory.

The team fell to Saucon Valley 5-4.
Catty would score first on a goal from Olivia Schlofer thanks to a pass from Quinn Bachman. But Saucon would come back with two before the half and Elyssa Okken and Bridget O'Donnell found the back of the net.
Catty would tie it on a Bachman goal to make it 2-2 but Saucon would answer back, taking a 3-2 lead on a goal from Rachel Panek before Okken made it 4-2.
Bachman would get Catty within a goal to make it 4-3. She was assisted by Soriana Salloum. But Grace Spirk of Saucon made it 5-3 before Bachman again cut the lead to 5-4.
Catty had just five shots on goal by made the most of them as the Panthers fired 27 shots at Tiffany Murawski, who had 20 saves.
Northern Lehigh beat Catty 6-0.
Jessie Olewine had a goal and three assists while Cheyenne Mazzocca and Taryn Kemmerer each had two goals.
The Bulldogs dominated with 20 corners and 26 shots on goal.

The boys soccer team fell to Notre Dame Green Pond 2-1.
It was a double-overtime affair that saw Andy Ference give his team the win. In fact, Ference had both goals in the contest for the Crusaders.

The girls soccer team fell to Notre Dame of East Stroudsburg 4-1.
Krista Kissel paced her team in the win scoring three of the goals while Narah Farrugia had the other.
NDES led 3-1 at the half.
Catty's goal came from Jade Biviano on an assist from Madison Emery.
The girls fell to Lehighton 5-0.
Five different goal scorers found the back of the net for the Indians: Brooke Scott, Julia Frey, Allison Andrew, Rajah Quinones and Thera Hibbler.
Jim Thorpe defeated Catasaqua 1-0. Ilse Hassler scored the lone goal off of a header on a corner kick from Camille Principe in the first half.
Mo Jervier and Taylor Huth combined for the shutout.
The girls lost to Notre Dame 9-0.
Meghan McMullan scored four goals in the win for the Crusaders. Kate Aquilina had two to help the winning cause.
