On Sept. 25, members of the Upper Milford Historical Society and members of the community gathered together at the Upper Milford Township building awaiting the unveiling and dedication of a quilt.
The quilting project has been in the works for quite some time.
In April 2013, Rose Parry mentioned the idea of creating a quilt and Irene Fredrick's daughter, Basil, formed a committee. The committee included Barbara Peters, Marlene Herbein, Faith Willis, Sue Weber, Rose Parry, Irene Frederick and Lorelle and Neil Moser.
The newly established quilting committee met again June 13, 2013, to discuss the quilt. At this time, the members decided on the colors and a pattern for the quilt.
The quilting materials were paid for by Barbara Peters and the quilt project moved forward.
Neil Moser drew the images for the quilt and Frederick transferred the images to cloth patches.
Various members helped embroider the images onto the patches while Herbein sewed the descriptions onto each patch.
The quilt was completed in May after Frederick spent over 100 hours quilting and sewing.
Everyone gathered in the hall for the unveiling and the tape was slowly removed to reveal the masterpiece.
The quilt images display intricate details.
The quilt, encased in glass, hangs in the Upper Milford Township Building, displayed for all to see.
After the quilt was unveiled, members gathered in the auditorium at the township building where they enjoyed a cake replicating the quilt image and other refreshments.
