As the soccer season starts to come to a close, the Freedom High School girls' soccer team is eyeing their first district appearance in a long time.
The Pates went on to face Easton where they lost 4-1.
After their tough loss to the Rovers, the girls went on to play Dieruff where they won 8-0. Jaiden Coyne tallied three goals for the Pates and Erica Barrett had three assists in the win.
After Dieruff, the Pates traveled across town to face one of their local rivals: Bethlehem Catholic. Once again, Erica Barrett helped lead the Patriots to a win with two goals in their 3-0 victory.
The Patriots' next test was against William Allen where they cruised to an 11-0 win. Barrett recorded a hat trick during the game.
The Pates had another big test ahead of them facing a very good Saucon Valley team. Freedom came out with a big start scoring the first goal but also let one in shortly before halftime to make it 1-1. The second half saw Freedom score two goals to lead them to a 3-1 win. Goalkeeper Tara Hathaway made 10 saves in the Patriots victory.
The girls have a tough week ahead with four games in five days. The Pates will face Easton, their biggest rival, followed by Liberty, Dieruff and Bethlehem Catholic.
The Pates are currently 7-5 with six games left in the regular season. If they can record two more wins, they will qualify for districts. The girls are aiming to not only reach districts, but to reach the EPC Championship by the end of their season.
