Bethlehem Catholic, Freedom, and Liberty's boys cross country teams added two wins to their records by defeating Pocono Mountain East and Pocono Mountain West last week.
Freedom senior, Jason Lopez took first place overall with a time of 17:02, followed by teammates, Dan Quigley and Will Alpaugh, whose times were 17:03 and 17:04, respectively.
Lopez said, "Yesterday, we did a long run, 13 miles, so our coach told us to take it like a tempo race. It's all about the league championship."
Isaac Gross placed 8th in 17:39, Tom Salerno placed 10th in 18:01, and Trevor Watlington came in 11th in 18:02, all for the Patriots.
Freedom's team score against the Cardinals was 17-46, and against the Panthers was 15-50. Liberty senior, Will Masemore, placed 4th overall with a time of 17:08. Robert Appleby placed 6th in 17:34, Jonah George was 7th in 17:37, and John Ledyard came in 9th in 17:52, all for the Hurricanes.
Appleby said, "That was my fastest time. Alex [Fitch] wasn't here today, so I was stepping up for him."
Liberty's team score against the Cardinals was 19-43, and against the Panthers was 15-50. Bethlehem Catholic junior, Bryce Orloski, placed 12th overall with a time of 18:16.
"The hardest part was around one-and-a-half miles. The course went slightly uphill, and I forgot about that. I felt pretty strong. I like to run in the heat. One Freedom kid was 20 meters ahead, and I passed him at the very last second as I was crossing the finish line," Orloski said.
Becahi's team score against the Cardinals was 19-39, and against the Panthers was 20-40.
