Bachman continues torrid streak
Quinn Bachman had a big deal against Pen Argyl helping Catty's field hockey team to a 4-2 victory.
Bachman factored in on all four goals as the Roughs outscored the Knights 3-1 in the second half, breaking a 1-1 tie after the first half.
The Knights got on the board first after Lacey Hempeler scored but it was Mackenzie Bradley who tied it for Catty on a Bachman assist.
Olivia Schlofer fed Bachman twice to open the second half and give Catty a 3-1 lead. But Pen Argyl would draw within one on a Morgan Reduzzi goal before Bachman added some insurance with her third goal coming from Morgan Meckes.
PA outshot Catty 14-11. Tiffany Murawski made 11 saves in the win while the Knight's Paige Pagotto stopped five.
Palisades outshot Catty 13-5 but it was the Roughs who came out on the winning end of a 1-0 game.
Quinn Bachman scored on a reduced player overtime breakaway with 6:24 remaining for the game's only goal.
Tiffany Murawski of Catty made 13 saves, while Betsy Gentner had 4.
A tough Moravian Academy field hockey team remained undefeated with a 4-1 win over Catasauqua.
Mayv Clune scored on a penalty stroke and Vicky Tahos scored on a Clune assist in the first half for the Lions. Morgan Meckes scored on an assist from Quinn Bachman to make it 2-1 at the half.
But Moravian pulled away in the second half thanks to goals from Vivian Simone and Clune. Simone's goals was assisted by Claire Mulligan.
The Lions outshot Catty 19-4 with Tiffany Murawski stopping 11.
Boys soccer
Palisades got off to a quick start in a 4-0 win over Catty's boys soccer team.
The Pirates scored three times in the first thanks to two goals from Cooper Moyer and one from Colin Mardsen. Tyaler Andre had the other goal.
Palisades assists came from: Tyler Andre, Colin Mardsen, Michael Guarino, Jason Gehman.
The Pirates outshot Catty 13-2 with CHS keeper Gunnar Pattison stopping nine.
Catty knocked off Jim Thorpe 3-1.
With the game tied 1-1 at the half, the Roughs pulled away with two in the second half for the win.
Stone Vassa scored unassisted in the first half to match the Olympian's Chris Williams' tally.
But in the second it was Dionis Lora and Nick Rossnagle with goals. Vassa assisted on Lora's goal and Majed Salama on Rossnagle's.
Catty outshot Jim Thorpe 12-7 with Gunnar Pattison stopping six.
Southern Lehigh knocked off the Roughies 8-0.
Ryan Fowler, Jacob Cassel and Colin Hoff each scored two goals for the Spartans in the victory.
Alex Sabram had a goal and two assists.
SL outshot Catty 25-5.
Girls Soccer
The girls soccer team fell to Palisades 10-0.
The Pirates were led by Sydney Bartone who had three goals and an assist. Amanda Nickles added two goals in the win.
Catty was outshot 26-3.
Southern Lehigh defeated Catty 9-1.
Abbey Cerciello had two goals and assist in the victory while Baleigh Bradley added a goal and an assist.
Catty's only goal came from Bekkah Harakal off an assist from Jade Biviano.
Volleyball
The volleyball team fell to Saucon Valley 3-0 and most recently to Notre Dame by the same score.
