CENTRAL CATHOLIC COLUMN Freshmen parent night scheduled for Sept. 25

Central Catholic High School has a busy few weeks ahead as students settle into the school year.

On Sept. 25, Central will hold its freshmen parent night, where all freshmen parents will have the opportunity to come to the school and meet the teachers.

Beginning 6 p.m., parents will follow their child's schedule and learn about who will be teaching their son or daughter and have the chance to learn more about the school and curriculum.

Parents of students in grades 10 through 12 will have this same opportunity 6 p.m. Oct. 2.

This weekend is Allentown Central Catholic's homecoming weekend. Allentown traditionally celebrates with an intense passion and spirit unique to the school. With the traditional pep rally and homecoming dance Sept. 26 to rally the students, the Central Catholic football team will take on Freedom High School 7 p.m Sept. 27 at J. Birney Crum Stadium. Being the homecoming game, a massive student turnout is expected, along with teachers and alumni, to cheer on the Vikings.

On Sept. 26, the pep rally will be a time for Central students to show their Viking spirit. Students will participate in different activities, such as dance competitions, relay races and the chance to pie Central Catholic's chaplain, Father Hoffa. Students fill Rockne Hall with cheers in support of the team.

Later that evening 7 to 10 p.m. the Homecoming dance will be held for all students. This dance, also held in Rockne Hall, is a chance for the student body to come together for the evening and enjoy the time with friends.
